Hi,

RODC is a feature introduced with Windows Server 2008 OS, so you cannot have a Windows Server 2003 RODC. But you can have any numer of windows 2008 RODCs in a windows 2003 functional domain/forest. Nevertheless, it's not required to raise the functional level to server 2008, just because you want have an RODC.

Basically, there are two steps in creating an RODC in such a scenario.

  1. Run adprep /rodcprep command.
  2. Use the ADDS setup wizard to to install the RODC.
