Sending mail out (to Internet)

In your SMTP connector. Right click and then open properties

Click on the "Delivery Restrictions" tab and add the users who should be restricted from being able to send email.

Best practice - use a group instead of users.

Create a mail enabled group in the usual way, with a name that is represent what it is "Restricted Internet Email Users" or something like that.

Add the users to the created group.

Block Receiving email from Internet

Open the Properties of the user in Active Directory Users and Computers and click on the tab "Exchange General", then "Delivery Restrictions".
In there you can restrict who can deliver to the user. At the minimum set the "From Authenticated Users Only".

Hi Paddy,

Already i have tried with this and it was successful with receiving but not for the sending, do i have to work around with the registry settings?

tks

Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).

  1. Locate and click the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/CurrentControlSet/Services/Resvc/Parameters/
  2. On the Edit menu, click Add Value, and then add the following registry value:
    Value Name: CheckConnectorRestrictions
    Data Type: REG_DWORD
    Radix: Hexadecimal
    Value: 1
  3. Close the registry editor.
  4. Restart the Microsoft Exchange Routing Engine service and the SMTP services for this to take effect.
