What is the best protocol to configure to access the Head office exchange server from the branch network via Data ip VPN connection? we have two different AD domains . users in the client branch do the authentication locally (eg wmi.local ). Exchange server running domain in the head office (WMCS.local).what would be the best solution in exchange 2007 to get connected from the branch network to head office from POP3/RPC over http, outlook any ware.
Our link is 128 k and bit expensive to access the internet. half of the mail bos users in one branch . so that we need some reliable source of access method
The best option to connect to head office would be RPC over HTTPS (outlook any ware), this is the best option if your client using Outlook as the mail client and looking features like offline access etc,
OWA (HTTPS) is ok if your users are not looking for email client like Outlook and offline access,
I personally don’t recommend POP in corporate environments.
You can get rid of your Dial-up VPN if you are using RPC over HTTPS and OWA(HTTPS) since its already secure connection from client to the server.
