I have DL 380 g6 configured with following

 HDD – 6 * 146 gb

 RAID1 – 2 * 146 gb – disk0

RAID5 -  2* 146  gb – disk 1

When I check the disk 1- I can see only simple volume on the partitioning option .  .is it due to hardware raid ? do I have to convert the disk into dynamic (software ?

Hi Cur,

I think maybe you must have done a typo by saying 2*146 gb - disk 1 for the RAID5. You'll need minimum 3 disks for the RAID5. Moving forward if you create this RAID 5 using HP Smart Start utility then in the Windows Disk Management you'll see this as one DISK instead of 3 separate DISKS. If you need to manage this hardware RAID 5 within the Windows environment then you'll have to download and install separate HP disk utility.

Hope this clarifies your question. Mabye an HP server handling engineer might able to give you the exact name of that utility.
